Just before Christmas we were on location at Samuel Whites Infant School in Bristol. Coming on a Friday after a very busy week travelling all around the country, this was a very welcome recording. In order to arrive at the school for 07.30am we only had to leave by 6.30am and even then, there was time for a quick spot of breakfast just before we headed in to set up.
Once we got to the school it didn’t take too long to get everything unloaded and set up in the school hall. The teachers were extremely welcoming and the first song of the day was going to be sung by the staff.
Recording a Staff Song
Increasingly Primary Schools who record with us choose to record a staff song as part of their Christmas CD recording. There is no obligation but it’s fair to say the pupils and parents love to see and hear their teachers getting involved. We appreciate of course that it is very difficult for staff to take time out of the school day to do this and indeed they can’t just leave the children unattended. Therefore first thing in the morning, whilst not the ideal time for singing, is often the best time to record the staff song. This is exactly what happened with the Samuel Whites recording and what a great song it was too!
The rest of the recording proceeded smoothly and we recorded songs per year group as well as the whole of early years and Key Stage One. Matters were helped considerably by the appearance of some home made cake from one of the teachers who had organised the recording session!
